Cookies and Browser Storage on This Site
Most cookie policies are long because most sites set a great many cookies. This one is short because this site sets very few. Nothing here tracks you across the internet, nothing builds a profile, and nothing non-essential is set without asking you first.
In Plain Terms
| Principle | Summary |
|---|---|
| Only essential cookies | The few this site sets keep it working. There are no tracking or advertising cookies. |
| No consent banner | Because there is nothing to consent to yet. If that changes, you will be asked before anything is set. |
| Local storage is not a cookie | The tools save your work on your own device. It is never sent anywhere, including to us. |
| No cross-site tracking | Nothing here follows you to other websites. |
| You can clear all of it | Browser settings remove everything this site has stored, and nothing breaks permanently. |
The tables below list every cookie and storage key by name.
Cookies and Local Storage Are Not the Same Thing
These get discussed together and they behave quite differently, which matters for understanding what this site does. A cookie is a small file your browser sends back with every request to the site that set it. The site therefore sees it on every page you visit, which is what makes cookies useful for keeping you logged in and also what makes them useful for tracking.
Local storage is a store on your own device that your browser does not send anywhere. Code running in the page can read and write it, but it is never attached to a request, so a server never receives it. This site uses it for one purpose: letting the tools remember your work between visits, so that a capsule wardrobe checklist you started ticking off on Monday is still ticked on Thursday.
The practical consequence is that the tool data described on this page is genuinely invisible to us. We are not choosing not to look at it, we have no route to it at all. Clearing your browser's site data removes it and there is no copy anywhere else.
Small files sent with every request to this site. This site sets four, all essential.
Saved on your device only. Never sent with a request. Used by four tools to save your work.
Cookies travel. Local storage does not.
Diagram comparing cookies and local storage: Cookies are small files sent with every request to our server, whereas local storage is saved on your device only and is never sent with a request. What the Tools Save on Your Device
Four tools save your work in your browser's local storage, because each involves a task that takes more than one sitting. None of this is sent anywhere. We cannot see it, it is not backed up, and it does not follow you to another device.
| Tool | Storage Key | What It Saves | Where | How to Clear |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Capsule Wardrobe Builder | wfeu_capsule_* | Which pieces you have ticked, your settings | Your browser only | Button on the tool page |
| Cost Per Wear Calculator | wfeu_cpw_saved_items | Items you chose to save and their wear counts | Your browser only | Button on the tool page |
| Luggage Weight Calculator | wfeu_luggage_packing | Your packing list | Your browser only | Button on the tool page |
| Several tools | wfeu_cpw_currency, wfeu_ring_screen_cal_px_per_mm | Your currency and unit preference | Your browser only | Browser site data |
Two tools that deliberately save nothing
The clothing budget calculator stores nothing at all, not even locally, because it asks for your take-home pay and that is the most sensitive input any tool here requests. The face shape detector's photo option processes the image in your browser and discards it — no image is stored in local storage or anywhere else. Both are explained in the privacy policy.
Managing Cookies Yourself
Every browser lets you see what a site has stored, delete it, and block future cookies from that site. Because this site sets only essential cookies, blocking them will break some conveniences — your language and unit choices will reset on every visit — but nothing will stop working entirely, and no tool will refuse to run.
Local storage is cleared by the same controls. In most browsers it sits under the same 'site data' heading as cookies, so clearing one clears both.
Chrome

Safari
Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
Firefox
Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
Edge

Browser menus change. If these paths do not match what you see, searching your browser's help for 'clear site data' will.
Changes to This Page
The tables above will change when the site changes. A new cookie, a new storage key, an analytics service or an advertising network — each is added here before it goes live, and listed in the log below with a date.
That ordering matters. Updating a cookie policy after setting the cookie is the common practice and it is the wrong way round, because for the period in between the page is inaccurate about something a visitor might reasonably check.

If the tables do not match your browser
That would be an error worth knowing about. Email fashion@womensfashioneu.com with what you found and it will be checked and corrected.
